Spectacular village house and terrace full of Alpujarra charm

A fantastic opportunity to buy this spectacular yet traditional village house in lovely Capileira, voted
one of Spain’s prettiest villages. The house is exceptional as the interior layout is spacious (unlike
most village houses in the Alpujarras) and the large terrace offers unique 360-degree views of the mountains and village. Beautifully presented, having recently undergone renovations to include new bathrooms and kitchen the house also features new locally made wooden doors and double-glazed wooden windows. The property has windows to all sides allowing plenty of light to flood in. The large roof terrace is accessed from the kitchen to a covered area ideal for alfresco dining with views of Mulhacen, Spain’s highest mountain to the  north and the Sierra Lujar range to the south, as well as the lovely Poqueira valley and Capileira itself. The main half-glazed wooden entrance door leads into a large sitting room with a large traditional fireplace, window to the west elevation, and a glazed door to the south leading out to a smaller terrace with views to the south. The living room retains a traditional chestnut and slate ceiling, slate flooring and a large open fireplace for cozy log fires in winter. Off this room a concealed sliding glazed door leads through to the kitchen, recently fitted to include wooden units and granite worktops and with space for a table and chairs. Another door leads out onto the large roof terrace affording those wonderful views. Also off the sitting  room there is access to a bedroom with an en-suite shower room with window. A broad staircase leads down to the lower level with an unexpectedly large and lovely open space that could be used as an alternative sitting room, gallery or even as a bijou cinema with a large screen TV. Off this room there is access to the other two bedrooms and a newly fitted large family bathroom with walk-in shower. There is also a studio/sitting area looking out onto another small patio/terrace area and the Poqueira valley with two large windows allowing plenty of light. With two front doors, one on each level, the house also offers the potential to be subdivided into two separate apartments if desired.

Services

Mains water, electricity and drainage are connected. Internet is avaialble from local suppliers.

Location

The highest of the 'Three White Villages" in the Barranco de Poqueira, at 1,436m, Capileira is a good base for walking in the gorge itself or up to the Sierra Nevada. It's twisting, steep streets are dotted with many springs gushing with fresh mountain water and there are superb views of the Poqueira gorge and the Sierra Nevada everywhere you look. With a population of 600, it′s also the largest of the three villages in the Poqueira gorge – the others being Bubión and Pampaneira – and it has a good choice of accommodation and bars. Malaga airport around a two hour drive, and the beaches of the Costa Tropical around one hour.
